A couple of weeks ago my daughter turned four and sometimes she amazes me with the things she says. The picture above actually depicts a moment from when Chelsea was three … it was several months ago that we were talking about what she wanted to be when she grew up.
After telling me that she wanted to be an artist, she asked me: “What do you want to be when you grow up, Mommy”? I replied something like, “Well I’m already pretty grown up, Chelsea.” To which she responded: “You can be whatever you want to be when you grow up, Mommy.”
Heart. Melting. In. A. Puddle.
So great. It was one of those moments where you clearly see that your children are like little mirrors. And what they’ve taken in from the world is something pretty great. May she always be so inspiring! May I always live up to her hopes and dreams for me.
I can’t wait to see what she’s going to be when she grows up, but I won’t wish away my time with the unique little person I have living with me right now.
Incidentally, my little artist and I collaborated on creating the image above. Chelsea made the background with the Drawing Pad app on the iPad and I doodled in the rest. Love that! Almost everything she colours these days has *every* colour in it. I am surrounded by rainbows! (Love that too.)
